Testimonial

This service is going to help IMGs like me with linguistic limitations and cultural deviations to help them pursue their dreams in the States. Thank you. Having my documents reviewed by Dr. Freedman who has experience in the admissions process helped me to increase the confidence in my application which played a catalytic role in the process.

International Medical Graduates

International Medical Graduates

At MedEdits, we understand the unique challenges and needs of both US and non-US citizen International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

Dr. Freedman mentors Caribbean medical students to successfully help them obtain competitive residency positions. She also provides career advising and mentoring, helping students navigate their clinical years so they have the greatest chance of success. Because of her work with Caribbean medical students, Dr. Freedman understands that many feel they do not have sufficient guidance once leaving "the island" and she has tremendous success filling this void. Visit our residency admissions page for more information.

The competition to obtain a residency is especially competitive for the non-US citizen IMG. We will review your materials with your background in mind to ensure that your unique story and voice are conveyed in your written documents. As a former residency admissions officer, Dr. Freedman understands that good communication skills are crucial for IMGs. If it is evident during the initial screening of an application that an IMG cannot communicate effectively, the application often ends up in the rejection pile regardless of your USMLE scores or other experience. Well written and clear materials increase your chances of receiving an interview. We will ensure that your submissions are effective, distinguished and stand out from the rest. MedEdits does not provide "IMG-friendly" lists of hospitals and residency programs that are likely to accept IMGs nor do we arrange United States hospital observerships or externships. Our goal is to greatly improve the quality of IMGs written materials to increase their chances of obtaining a residency or fellowship position.

Letter of Recommendation Edit and Review

As a special service for IMGs, MedEdits will edit letters of recommendation (LORs) and Dean's letters to ensure that they are well written, "Americanized", and communicate effectively that an applicant is outstanding. A common mistake of LOR authors is to unknowingly submit LORs that are mediocre in the eyes of admissions officers. It is essential that LORs convey the applicant's excellence both clinically and interpersonally. MedEdits knows the key phrases and words that admissions officers want to read. Since we have read thousands of LORs, we know which will earn the applicant an interview and which will cause the file to be rejected. We also know the key phrases and words that residency admissions officers seek.

Please note that we cannot edit LORs submitted by applicants.

If you are a letter writer and interested in LOR editing, please contact us.

MedEdits offers two letter of recommendation (LOR)/
Dean's letter packages for IMGs:

1MedEdits LOR Edit and Review - Includes three revisions of one LOR: $350

2MedEdits Supreme LOR Review - Includes up to three revisions of three LORs $950
